These films are
meditations on historical events and intercultural issues in places ranging from Guatemala to Germany. They have been screened at venues including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the British Film Institute, and the Dachau Memorial. They have been broadcast in Europe, Australia and the United States. I am grateful for the support shown these films from sources including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Polaroid Foundation, Siebel Foundation, Burden Foundation, Lichtstern Fund, Illinois Arts Council (seven Fellowships in Film and in Screenwriting), Rockefeller Foundation (one Fellowship and a Stage II Fellowship Award in Intercultural Documentary Film). My media education includes musical study with Andrès Segovia (Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Siena, Italy); undergraduate and grad degrees in comparative literature (University of California, Irvine); service as a Navy photojournalist; service as Executive Director of the Friends of Photography; and a post-grad degree in computer graphics (Sheridan College, Ontario, Canada).
